Structural repairs to the wing are all but complete. There are just a few minor items to fix, but I have moved on to preparing the wing for paint. I had hoped to just have to paint the areas around the new joints, but it rapidly became apparent that I was going to have to repaint the entire plane. First, the paint I originally used is no longer available. I was able to get a close match blended, but it's not exact. Second, there was just too much new surface that would need painting anyway. Since I'm going to repaint everything, I decided to go back and try to fill in the many gaps left in the original finish. I was both surprised and disappointed at being able to see wood grain after both fiberglassing the surfaces and using multiple coats of primer/filler, which was sanded between coats. I'm not sure if my new efforts will pay off, but it can only be better. Since I don't have any decals left over from the original build, I have to mask the ones on the model.
