Are there any A-10 kits available?
GWS makes an electric park flyer A-10.
Mibo Jets makes a 1/6th scale turbine-powered model.
Jensen Jet Models has a 1/9th scale ducted fan model on their web site, but to the best of my knowledge it is not yet available.
Tank's Hangar Aircraft Models sells a short kit version of Keith Spark's twin-propeller powered A-10. The plans are available from Model Airplane News.
Tank's Hangar Aircraft Models did the laser-cutting of the ribs and formers for my George Miller A-10, making it something close to a short kit.
I'm not aware of any other A-10 kits out there.
Where did I get the plans?
Scale RC Models
What engines am I using?
I have two, used, K&B .45 ducted fan engines. I will be using Turbax I fans. As far as I know, K&B no longer makes ducted fan engines. The only ones in this size range available are from O.S. Engines (.46 VX-DF).
Update: As it turns out, the K&B engines I have are very old and can't be mounted on the Turbax I fans. Only later
K&B models would work. So, I'll be using new O.S. .46 VX-DF engines with Turbax 46 fans.
How much will my A-10 weigh?
I expect it to come in around 25 lbs. dry (no fuel), maybe a little less. I'll post the actual weight after it's done. Another one built by someone else came in at 23 lbs. dry.
